lyrics

They said he looked like the kid from Go Diego Go
They frowned upon his quiet nature and his worn out shoes
They took his viola and mocked him mercilessly
He didn't understand it
Wondering is something wrong with me
He looked him in the eyes and kept his fist unclenched
A non-violent reminder that he's not to be messed with
He had enough of all the taunts and cruelty
He didn't see that uppercut
All he saw was gray
He started slipping away in the gray
It's hard to hold your head up when ya got a muddled brain
He started slipping away in the gray
All the while enduring all the bullies and the hate
He took to busking on the sidewalks and the streets
Kept his music on the stand with clothespins on the sheets
Discovered Primrose and he found him a hero
Studied his technique in black and white grain videos
He started busking away through the gray
He finally found his calling in the tones that resonate
He started busking away through the gray
They told him kid ya got grit and he started to believe
